NIKITA
Nikki “Nikita” Gomez’ love of the performing arts was developed during her childhood. Throughout her youth, she sang in church with her parents, took dance classes, and performed in variety shows and plays while in the high school drama club.
In 1998, Nikita attended a West African Drum and Dance concert and instantly fell in love. This encounter ignited the desire to study other forms of dance, including a variety of styles of the African Diaspora. In 2001 she was introduced to Middle Eastern Dance while living in Sarasota, Florida and later Tribal Fusion Belly Dance. After attending countless dance classes, workshops and conferences over the years, she traveled to Guinea, West Africa in 2006 and 2008 with Like Water Drum and Dance for a 3-week long drum and dance intensive.
Nikita has been teaching Belly Dance and World Dance classes at Ms. Bridget's School of Dance (MBSD) since 2006 and has created multiple award winning choreographies for their competition team. She also teaches adult classes in Grand Blanc at The Harmony Studio.
She has performed with Kuungana Drum and Dance Co, Nomobugante, Like Water Drum & Dance, Nomadic Jewels Tribal Belly Dance and Tree of Life Drum and Dance Society. Currently, she is co-director and primary choreographer of Callipygian Twist Dance Fusion. For more info, visit Callipygiantwist.wixsite.com .
