Indo-Carribean Dance Workshop with Seycon Nadia
Thank you to everyone who came out to this unique, educational and invigorating dance workshop!
This 90 minute, all-levels dance workshop with Seycon Nadia explored the East Indian influence in the Caribbean through movement. We used a lot of Chutney Soca music. This class was high cardio, with a lot of footwork.
About Seycon Nadia: Seycon Nadia is a passionate dancer specializing in the many dances of the African Diaspora, including Afrobeat, Dancehall, Soca, Belly Dancing, Samba and many more.
In addition to being a Mover with Tableau Cadre, Seycon is the Artistic Director of Hidaya Diaspora Afro-Contemporary Dance Company, a dance troupe based in Detroit, MI. The Western world misinterprets many of these movements, and views them as provocative. Seycon dances not only to keep her cultures alive and honor her Liberian and Jamaican heritage, but also to embrace her divine feminine power.
