Who is your biggest inspiration in your own dance?

Isadora Duncan and Donna Mejia. I love natural, organic movements and a scholarly approach to dance. I want to understand as well as express with my art form. Both of these women, in their own ways, in their own time, have deeply impacted my work. What cultural elements do you draw upon and are there any traditions you seek to pass on to other dancers?

I have studied Middle Eastern dance most of my adult life. I tend to draw from that experience and movement vocabulary because is is so luscious and natural on the female form. I also draw heavily from my time as a burlesque dancer...there is a liberation and a permission for expression that comes with burlesque that I find VERY helpful. I also rely heavily on my Yoga training. Yoga taught me how to breathe and be present inside of movement. As an empath, your passion for making the world a better place is clearly enormous. What advice can you share to translate this deep feeling into movement and body consciousness/confidence?

Empaths have all the feels right?! lol! Research has shown that participating in Music Making and Dance utilize more of the brain that almost anything else. In fact our brain lights up for participating in musical activity more than it does for an orgasm! I fine that fascinating! I feel that music and dance bring people together in a powerful way. Plus we are growing our brains! We need good brains! All of the good brains and happy people making music and dancing together! Anytime we are moving our body to a good groove, we are claiming our humanity and bringing light to the world. And it's fun, and it's healthy, and it raises our endorphins, so win, win, win, win!

Isn't she the best?! Keep your eyes peeled for future mover spotlights!
